Blast from the Past

Back in high school. I don't know why I chose to post this picture for this entry but I'm guessing the devil horns puts more emphasis some points for being a badass back then (whutt?)

I recently found my a stash of the mix CDs I made back in high school, when I actually had the TIME to explore music. Burning mix CDs was always a ritual back then, I had the habit of giving it as a 'complimentary personal touch' birthday gift to my closest friends. I also had those mix CDs that had the same theme of 'Songs to listen when..' theme, so whenever I was feeling moody/happy/indifferent/angry, I always had the right music CD to pop in the player.
The fact that Fireworks continues to be my number-one song for 'inspiration' doesn't help. It's not that I don't like Katy Perry (I do, for real!), it's just how my music inclinations has radically changed compared to the songs I listened back in high school.
With that being said, I'd like to share a few songs that has been a staple part of my high school life. These are the ones that provided me a temporary source of angsty-ridden enlightenment. Soon, I will update my music playlist on this genre but let's just enjoy these classics for the time-being.
2. Alkaline Trio - Wash Away (Yes, I like this better than the original one from TSOL and yes, it's from Tony Hawk's American Wasteland)

I love receiving mix CDs, since they will always encompass that personalized, 'I-only-bought-this-CD-for-15 bucks-but-I-had-the-time-to-select-and-rearrange-the-songs-for-the-perfect-soundtrack' vibe. So for my next birthday, I'd be perfectly content (just as long as it doesn't anything from Celine Dion or Simple Plan, since I have all of their songs already) with mix CDs. Preferably for the following situations:

1) Studying - Pretty please, someone give me tracks that won't make me fall asleep though. Not house or classical music though, these have already been tried and failed miserably.
2) Surfing the web - Give me something similar to the Social Network OST =)
3) When you're alone in Starbucks/Bo's/some other coffee chain where you love the ambiance but you're dead tired of hearing the same songs played all over again (including your Ipod)
